Tunnell Trust News
It is with great sadness that we report the death of our Trustee, David McLellan in March 2026.
David was initially a Trustee of the Young Musicians’ Trust from the early 1990s when he helped Wendy Tunnell establish that Trust and its work. He joined the Tunnell Trust as Trustee when the Young Musicians’ and John Tunnell Trusts merged in the early 2000s.
David was an extraordinary supporter of all things musical in Edinburgh and Scotland generally. As well as serving as our Trustee, he was Chair of Live Music Now, Scotland for some time and served on the board of the Dunedin Consort. He was a great champion of young musicians.
Many of our young musicians may not have known David, although a number will remember him from Strathgarry courses, but his quiet influence reaches far. We shall miss his wisdom and his cheeky wit greatly.
