30th Anniversary Appeal

We are delighted that our Patron, Jamie MacDougall from BBC Scotland has recorded a message for us:

This is our 30th Anniversary year.

If all our supporters donate £30, together we can do so much more to help our young musicians.

Due to the present Covid-19 crisis ALL freelance performers have lost virtually all performances and income. Their online work brings in no income.

Any donations made will go directly to Tunnell Trust artists and their future work. Please help to get the industry and our artists back on stage.

In a recent survey carried out by us, 50% of freelance musicians have lost all their work. The other 50% have retained on average only 16% of their work.

The figures are stark and Government help, if you are eligible, has failed to support at least a third of freelancers.

The Trust has had to cancel two Tours for its young musicians in March and has also cancelled its Music Coll, Chamber Music course in the Inner Hebrides.

We hope to reschedule those concerts and Music Coll will hopefully return next year but those musicians have already lost out in every way including financially.

We need to raise funds to support our musicians at this extremely difficult time and to reimburse expenses that they have incurred due to cancellations.

At a time of change for many of us, thank you for coming with us on this journey supporting superb young musicians.

Some thoughts from our musicians, supporters and Music Club partners on what we do:

Awards Scheme Concerts in Music Clubs & Societies

“We thank the Tunnell Trust for granting our music club the opportunity to stage such an enjoyable concert.”

“Who would ever have though that three such diverse instruments could produce such wonderful sounds and colours. Many thanks to the Tunnell Trust for arranging their visit.”

“Many thanks to the superb Quartet for giving us the most stylish, virtuosic and entertaining close we’ve ever had to a season! A big crowd all went away smiling! Thanks also to the Tunnell Trust for sponsoring this tour – you certainly know how to spot winners!”

Music Coll

“The environment is so conducive to positive and constructive working. To be given the opportunity to rehearse and receive coaching, interspersed with personal practise is utterly invaluable.”

“Overall a brilliant 10 days. It has really boosted our confidence as a group to go for more things. Invaluable to have the time to gel as a duo and get some repertoire under our belt for the future.”

“The course combines the opportunity to receive diverse feedback from experts in their fields and the opportunity to perform in front of an audience with the liberty of time and space to rehearse at ease, far from the distractions of the city. There was a lot to take away from the whole experience and we felt privileged to have been recipients of so much inspiration that week.”
